Busy Saturday yesterday. Threw 4 bowls, 4 vases, two planters, glazed 2 planters and threw 2 parts for a bonsai pot all before going to Glow. Didn’t get to making test pieces for this new clay. Get to do that today, plus a lot more throwing!

We recently delivered the latest kiln load of bottles, vases and bowls to Babakul’s newest store at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The grand opening will be in early October. The store is beautiful, the staff is delightful. While we were there we explored a small portion of Fashion Island and were very impressed with the fountains and had a delicious, healthy meal at True Food Kitchen. The east wing of Fashion Island will be having a grand opening event soon as well! Should be fun!

We recently attended a workshop at Santa Fe Clay taught by David Hicks. This workshop was both freeing and challenging. We worked on a larger scale than we normally work and were very pleased with our results. It seemed everyone (there were 17 students!) enjoyed the workshop as Dave offered wonderful advice, feedback, humor and created a very open atmosphere. His work can be seen here http://www.dh-studio.com/Bio_page.html
Santa Fe Clay’s website is here http://www.santafeclay.com/
This will be a two part fountain- Bubblers on the top that will drain into the lower chamber. It should have a deep sound with no splash.
This piece transformed from a large coil pot to this Ark. It was a study in working with the technique David Hicks uses for his systems pieces.
This piece was based on the coil method.
And this piece was based on the systems technique
Needless to say, we had a great time and highly recommend Santa Fe Clay’s workshops!
